some of them (read: fashion industry) can overpass the recession so well , by reduce the the expense, ex.a brand usually do the Fashion Show every season, but now the just doin it twice a year or maybe just once a year..

PHI - Formed in October 2003 by Susan Dell (wife of computer magnate Michael Dell), Phi (pronounced “fee”) began life with many advantages—a 10,000-square-foot showroom in New York, its own store after one season, and Norwegian designer Andreas Melbostad at the helm. The Phi Store in SoHo will be selling the last of its Spring 2010 collection and will be closing its doors shortly thereafter.
"It's a really challenging climate right now for luxury goods," said Phi chief executive officer Julia Hansen. "There is not so much confidence in that market going forward.” It'll be sad to see Norwegian born Andreas Melbostad out of a job. Aside from being Phi's Creative Director, he was an early proponent of the body-conscious, form-fitting dresses that have graced the runways for the last few seasons. Phi, you will be missed. :((
J BRAND - J Brand, the private Los Angeles-based denim company that has recently teamed with renowned designer Hussein Chalayan, is likely up for sale, said industry sources.
